Claire Watson - Illustration + Design

Claire Watson is an Illustrator and Graphic Designer living with her husband and two kids aboard their 42' sailboat in Tofino BC.

Her experience as an illustrator was drawn from years of working as a chalkboard sign artist while living on Gabriola Island. Exporting over a thousand custom hand illustrated signs all over the world gave her ample opportunity to play with different mediums and subjects.

Claire and her family came to Tofino in 2012 looking for a change of scenery after selling her business. They all fell in love with the coast and instantly knew Tofino was going to be a long term home. Living aboard in the most inspiring, unique and soul filling place surrounded by rugged coastline, big waves, weathered trees, lush rainforests, dynamic weather, long sandy beaches stretching for miles, an eclectic culture, and a variety of land based and aquatic wildlife is a constant source of creative inspiration.

Currently she does primarily graphic design and illustration work for many Tofino businesses out of her new space ‘The Boathouse Creative Studio’ on Main Street. Her artwork can be found decorating the 'bin' in Centennial Park, as well as on the 2015 Whale Festival and Summer Festival Posters. Her prints and art cards are also stocked in a selection of gallery shops in Tofino and Ucluelet.
