Island born and raised, Marny (Marnel) Saunders’
eco-friendly, one-of-a-kind pottery captures
the coastal charm of her Ucluelet, BC community.

Add west coast wit and whimsy to any home or
garden with terracotta art inspired by local marine
and rainforest life. Colour resilient, durable and made
from locally sourced clay.

This artisan applies her own unique vision to a special
family process passed down while apprenticing with her
mother, Sally Shelly, of Shelly’s 4X Pottery.

Each playful piece is hand-designed and built in Marny’s
home studio, open since 2010. Detail work is enhanced
from sparkling mica raised to complement the clay’s natural
colour and delicate imagery hand-painted with iron oxide.

No glazes are used during high-heat firing, keeping harmful
fumes out of our atmosphere. Two coats of acrylic sealant
applied afterwards help make pieces fingerprint-resistant.

For maximum durability pots and planters should be overwintered;
remove soil or bring indoors. All other pieces are indoor/outdoor
year-round including colder northern regions.
